Tooth-coloured alternatives to amalgam are plastic composites filled with micro-glass particles, which allow perfect aesthetics. The cost of these fillings is high and the statutory health insurance companies reimburse only a part of the costs. Amalgam<\/h2>\n

Amalgam has proven itself as a filling material for tooth damage over many decades due to its unique properties. However, due to its mercury content it has also come under criticism. Health damage caused by amalgam has not yet been scientifically proven. Only patients with kidney damage, mercury allergy sufferers, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers are concerned about its use. Aesthetically more demanding, more durable and in any case safer are tooth-coloured fillings made of special plastics (composite), ceramic and gold inlays.
